Researched the toyota matrix and found out it could be the best for my money. planning on buying a 2005 or 2006.
also, If you have gone on any road trips, was your experience positive?
A: Try this. Open your favorite Internet search page. Search for "Toyota Sludge" without the quotes. You will quickly discover the the engine used in this car is a POS. Stay away.
Q: would anyone know the equivalent car in the Philippines of the US toyota MATRIX?
The Toyota Matrix in the US is a small 5 door hatchback. What would be the Philippine version?
A: Matrx is a Corolla marix so look for a dealer and buy your corolla .
Q: Where is the speaker for the no seat belt sensor in a '07 Toyota Matrix?
Hi,
My parents recently bought a 2007 Toyota Matrix and it has the most annoying beeping alarm that goes off if your not wearing a seat belt. Does anyone know how to disarm this or where the location of the speaker is so I can cut the F$@!ing wire?? Thanks.
A: Under the seat.
Q: What are the rails in the back of my Toyota Matrix for?
There are metal rails in the cargo area of my 08 Matrix and on the back of the rear seats. What are they for? They have little plastic buttons inside the rails that say "9.8"
A: Something to hang on to when the gas pedal sticks on the floor.
Q: How do I get a replacement spare tire for a 2003 Toyota Matrix?
My local dealer will sell me a wheel for $100 but couldn't figure out what size donut tire I need. Is there a way to find one from a junk dealer or is there an online site for used parts? I'm clueless as to where to start looking.
A: Try CraigsList wanteds. Your dealer is ripping you off.
Try local wreckage yards. Often the spare is undamaged.
Q: Why does my engine keep sputering on my 2004 Toyota Matrix?
So when I start my matrix it sounds fine but when I put it in reverse it makes a sputter and it stops running its an automatic so its not supposed to stall and also when I push the gas petal down I can hear like the sputtering of the gas going into the engine. It has 89,250 miles on the odometer if that helps thanks!
A: this is another one of their problems. once again it is denied, played down by toyota.
according to toyota it affects almost 1 percent of 2005 and up toyota corolla's and matrixes. i understand your is a 2004, but with this dishonest company toyota, their word means nothing.
people have reported stalling in intersections even, yet toyota says "this is not a safety concern, only more of an inconvenience". this is a computer problem toyota says. interesting as with the case of sua toyota says "there is no problems with our computers".
anyways this affects 1.2 million cars, toyota should do a recall, but are far too greedy. you need to report this to NHTSA, telling toyota would be wasting your time. make it clear to them yours is a 2004.
if it is not linked to this, all i can say is a car that new should not be giving you any problems.
Q: How much for a 60000 miles service for a 2003 Toyota Matrix XR and a smog check ?
I need to know what to expect so that I'm not ripped off.
I'm from California
A: On the maintenance between $250.00 to $300.00 dollars....
On the smog check...I don't know where you are from ???
Q: what are the best tires for a toyota matrix?
I live in Florida hot wet weather. I commute an hour to work and live on a 4 mile dirt road.
A: I used to work at Wal-mart managing the Tire and Lube area. I had a customer that came in regularly with a Matrix. He put on the Douglas Touring tires, they have an 80,000 mile warranty and in about 2 years he was on his 3rd set.....Yes, he had over 200,000 on the vehicle. So they are an option, however, seeing as you drive a bit on a dirt road, these tires are softer and don't handle the rough terrain quite as well. I would recommend the Good Year Viva, it's a 60,000 mile warranty and that tire is very nice on all terrains. Now remember I say I used to work at Wal mart, so I am not at all going to profit from them selling you tires. I just speak of the products that I know. With the amount of miles that you ARE going to put on this vehicle, the 60K tires should be great. Just make sure you are maintaining them as you should. Rotation every 3000 miles and balancing every 12000.

Q: About how many sticky notes does it take to cover the windows of a toyota matrix?
A prank my friend and i are playing on my other friend and was wondering if anyone had a good guess as to how any sticky notes we would need. We plan to use the square kind.
A: alot less than it takes to get the gas pedal to stick to the floor.
Q: Does the Pontiac Vibe have a Toyota Matrix engine?
The Vibe and Matrix are a joint adventure between GM and Toyota.
I know they share the same Corolla platform. But I'm wondering if the Vibe has only some Toyota engine parts that have been machined to fit some kind of GM engine.
A: Nope, it's the same exact engine. Really the only differences are the body panels, lights, and grille.
Q: Choosing from Honda Fit or Toyota Matrix?
I am going to buy a car from either Honda Fit or Toyota Matrix. Can someone tell me about the cons and pros from these two cars and help me make my decision?(I know the price for Fit is cheaper and have many accessories but I do the research on Yahoo Auto there are some people telling about that there are problems with this car)
Also, does anyone know will there be something like super charger for Honda Fit because the horsepower for Fit is a little bit...low...tks
A: I have the Toyota Matrix's sister car the Pontiac Vibe. They are identical in terms of engine/transmission and even the interior. Just slight body changes.
I love the little car. It gets me 30 mpg on average, and can haul a lot of stuff. I purchased and moved a tread mill home in my little Vibe.
130 hp is adequate. Could use a little more pep, but I'm happy with it. The car does have an optional super charger that you can use to increase hp if that's important to you. They also sell a 180 hp version that has a yamaha high performance engine in it.
If you like to do your own automotive work, Toyota's are the way to go. they allow you to get to the part, get tools on to the part and replace the parts. I've always found honda difficult to work on because of the location and how tight they stuff their engine into the engine compartment. Toyota has it tight also, but you can do the majority of the maintenance yourself. Toyota places the oil filters in a location that you can do an oil change without ever having to jack up the vehicle.
I love my Pontiac Vibe, and definitely would recommend the Toyota Matrix or Pontiac Vibe.
Q: Where can I get a roof rack for a 2005 Toyota Matrix?
I have a sunroof, and the ones I've found online say "roof rack does not work on sunroof models."
Thanks for any help! =D
No, "incudork", they make a certain kind of rack if you have a sun roof. Your common sense is nothing but non-sense.
A: TRY YOUR PHONE BOOK UNDER USED AUTO PARTS.
SHOULD BE ONE IN YOUR AREA THAT WILL HAVE THE PART YOU NEED.
GOOD LUCK ,
SUPERMAN
Q: Why would a 2003 Toyota Matrix INCREASE gas Mileage?
2003 XR, manual 5 speed transmission, front wheel drive. Went from averaging 32 to 35 MPG to averaging 42 to 45 MPG.
Not complaining, but curious how this might have happened or if it might be indicative of some underlying problem. The only change was where I was getting my gas, but I didn't change the octane level of the gas I was getting (87).
This is a sudden increase as I check my mileage with every fill up. It jumped up after one fill.
A: You say it jumped after one fill -- but has the increase remained over several fill ups?
If so, have your driving habits changed? Did you start driving more highway miles and/or fewer city miles? Or sustained 45-55MPH (highway speeds) when you used to drive around town (25-35MPH) or only on freeways (65-75MPH)? Those seem like the most likely answers from my completely uninformed viewpoint.
Perhaps you recently had an oil change, and either did a good HOT drain, or used a oil system cleaner (I do not recommend them, a proper hot oil change is just as effective and less corrosive), and got all the sludge out of your oil? Not as likely as the change in driving habits, but more likely than the gas.
The only way such a change in gas could make a sustained improvement in MPG, as far as I can imagine, would be if you were getting a lot of build up and slowly getting worse and worse MPG over time, then the change in gas cleaned out all the buildup. Very unlikely, but not impossible.
Q: Are the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe based on the same vehicle, If so where are they built?
How do GM and Toyota work together?, seems like a conflict of interest.
A: HI,
actually, the NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc.) plant in Freemont, CA has been in operation since Dec. 1984. The web addy is www.nummi.com and the solid address is:
New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc.
45500 Fremont Boulevard
Fremont, CA 94538
Toyota and GM have made several vehicles there, starting with the Corolla/Nova, then the Corolla/Prism, then the Matrix/Vibe. Toyota has also produced the Voltz, a low production vehicle only sold in Japan, and the Hilux pickup that evolved into the Tacoma.
The Tacoma, Matrix and Vibe are currently built there and it has been a great deal for both companies. In the early days, NUMMI gave Toyota a strategic manufacturing location in the US and GM got access to good, small vehicles that they didn't have to invent from scratch.
Now, Toyota has eleven major manufacturing facilities in North America and Canada and dozens of smaller supplier locations, so NUMMI has become just one way for Toyota to meet the demand for Corollas and Tacomas.
The Matrix and Vibe, while built on the same base platform, are not the same vehicle. The Matrix has thicker glass, more insulation and sound deadening, is offered in three trim levels, is offered with four-wheel drive, and has more extensive and more advanced safety features (four-channel ABS that controls each wheel independently versus GM's two-channel ABS, for example). For 2008, GM only offers the Vibe in one base trim level and only in front wheel drive.
The Matrix is based on the Corolla platform and the Corolla is being completely redone for 2008, so GM may or may not have a vehicle based off the new Corolla. Seeing how GM has pulled back on how the Vibe is offered, I would expect them to wait and offer a totally different vehicle once the new Corolla is out. I would expect that new vehicle to be some sort of crossover/wagon type of small car, looking at current trends.
