Q: Replacing hubcaps for 2010 Toyota Matrix?
What happens was I drove to work one day, and some a-hole stole one of them, and I would like to replace it. I called the dealers, and they are charging $90 for one hubcap!! That is too much money for me. I know nothing about cars, so I am wondering if anyone knows if I could replace hubcaps on a 2010 Toyota Matrix with generics ones that I could purchase much cheaper from wal-mart or something.
Any info. would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Lia
A: First $90 for one hubcap is just ridiculous, I have heard of hubcaps costing 60-70 bucks, but not $90. All it is is a molded piece of plastic.
You have many options here. One option is to drive around with three on. I see people with three on all of the time. Second you can take the other 3 off and drive without them. Hubcaps are not needed and they do very little to protect your lug nuts from water and dirt. It doesn't bother me to see a car without hubcaps on. Most of the time I like it, but that is just me. Third you can get a set of 4 hubcaps at your local K-Mart, Wal-Mart, or auto parts store. All you need to know is the size of your tire. If your tire is 15 inches, then you will need 15 inch hubcaps. The ones they sell at the auto parts stores are better quality then than the ones at K-Mart and Wal-Mart. The ones at K-Mart and Wal-Mart won't cost you more than $25 plus tax. The ones at the auto parts stores cost around $25-50 for a set. Just get a set of 4 silver hubcaps that you like. All you have to do is line it up with the valve stem and it snaps right on (takes about 5 minutes to do all 5). I advise you to stay away from chrome hubcaps because they look really cheap and tacky. I went through this and people just made fun of them and laughed. I had them on a 2004 Impala. Fourth, you can look for hubcaps on craigslist.org and ebay.com. Sometimes you can find a really cheap set of hubcaps on craiglist.org and they might even be the original ones. Good Luck.
Q: 2010 Toyota Matrix Questions?
I was looking through the new 2010 Toyota Matrix catalog and it looks like they have only the xRS and S type in there. Do they also have the xR for year 2010? I'm not much of a car person, but from a lot of looking through Craigslist, it seems like the xR is more fuel efficient than the other two types; is this true? Please explain everything. I'm trying to buy the most fuel efficient awd out there. Thanks! :)
A: Actually, the 2010 Matrix's are at dealerships right now and have been for a few weeks already.
At this time, I don't believe that they are building an XR model. The only AWD Matrix model is the "S" If gas mileage is what you're after, go with the base model or look at a Corolla.
I agree with the other poster...don't look at cars on craigslist. It's a giant waste of time and loaded with tons of misinformation. I would contact a local Toyota dealer and have them answer any questions you may have.
Q: 2009/2010 Toyota Matrix Overdrive On/Off?
Hi, I just got a 2009/2010 Toyota Matrix Base Automatic Model.
I am just wondering if there's a way to turn off the overdrive? or the overdrive is always on with the "D" driving gear?
I have driven a 2003 Corolla and it has an overdrive on/off switch by the shifter, and I am just wondering if there's such a switch on the new Matrix?
Thank You.
A: The new Toyota Matrix does not have an overdrive on/off switch.
Q: 2009/2010 Toyota Matrix Bad on 4th Gear?
Hi, I just got a new Toyota Matrix Base Automatic model and was driving on highway today and I noticed that when I drive over 110km/h (63mph) the rev is already at about 2800rpm and at 120km/h it's about 3000rpm.
My question is does the base model that still use less fuel than the S (XR) model at the same speed?
thank you.
A: ya the xr uses more fuel cause its all hooked up lol the base model has almost no power lol so it doesent use any gas really
Q: Used 2009 or 2010 Toyota Matrix or 2006 Camry?
I have been driving a 1994 Camry since 2000. It got me through college and some of my adulthood, but now its starting to show its age. Has 145,000 miles, leather seats are worn/torn, AC is done, and paint is fading/chipped. I lived in a small town so the only places I went were work, school, and around town. I moved after college into a big city and to get places, sometimes I have to drive over 20 miles so its taken a wear on the car.I live in the South and having AC in your car is a must. Its only May and its already crazy hot and it will only get hotter. I even avoid going to places I really want to go because of my worry of the car.
What I really want is a Toyota Venza, but I'm on a budget and so I have to get what I can at a good price and an affordable note. I am glad and thankful that the Camry lasted me so long, but it would be nice to ride in something more modern and looks good.
I found a 2006 Camry at a good price that is affordable which has 56,000 miles on it. Camry's are known for being reliable cars and the one I have has given me little trouble at all until now. Its a certified Toyota vehicle and I know it will be relaible, but I have been driving a Camry for 10 years and would like a change. I doubt if it would need major work if I were to get it, but I'm trying to avoid paying a lot of money for tune-ups and maintanence when I buy the car.
I like the way the newer Matrix look and am looking at one of them in the S or XRS model. I saw a good one for a tiny bit more than the 06 Camry with lower mileage (16,000). I hear Matrix are great on gas and at this point, I'm just looking for something that is good on gas, gets me from point A to point B in this big city, has A/C for the hot South, and where I can visit my hometown (about 2 1/2 hours from where I live) more. I was looking at Matrix S and XRS models because from my research the Base models don't have the best horsepower and the S and XRS ride better. I plan to test drive a Matrix and see how I like it. I'm 6'0 tall and sat in one at a carshow and I seemed to have pretty good leg room.
What do you think would be the best choice?
A: I'd invest in the Camry just because of the problems Toyota's facing with newer models speeding out of control.
Q: What is the INVOICE price on a 2010 Toyota Matrix?
The invoice price is not the sticker price/ asking price/ MSRP of the vehicle. It's the number that car dealers like to show you and say "see? we really are just barely making anything off of this car!" I have an approximate guess from the 2009 model and I also saw what edmunds.com claims it to be, but I just want to double check.
Please and thank you! :]
ahh sorry i forgot to all the details of the car! oops.
it's the automatic base model matrix no moon roof and all that jazz. the msrp of it is $20,260
basic automatic base model. no alloy wheels and stuff. a car that will get me from point A to point B with air conditioning and power windows and the standard stuff.
A: Invoice Price: $15,989
Q: I'm looking at used 09/10 Toyota Matrix's... Is it important that I get a certified one?
I live in Illinois and am looking for a 2009 or 2010 used Toyota Matrix. There aren't a lot of certified used ones in my price range... is it bad if I would get a non-certified one? Plus, if you have a Toyota Matrix, do you like it? If not, why?
A: Certified will give you a extended warranty and that is about all. I would not worry about it as you will have the factory warranty still in effect.
Q: Is the Toyota Matrix bigger than the Mazda 3 Hatchback?
The question is as simple as it seems! Does anyone know which of those 2010 cars are bigger? I am interested in the Matrix, but I heard the Mazda is a bit better in performance. My top priority is size (ha ha yea I know, thats what she said) but it is important to me. Thank you!!
A: Corolla Matrix is bigger and if you get XR or XRS then get Camry engine in car
Q: 2009/10 VIBE vs 2009/10 MATRIX?
I am looking at buying either a 2009/2010 Pontiac Vibe or a 2009/2010 Toyota Matrix
Both used and pre-certified.
I've driven the Matrix and liked it a lot. Have not driven the Vibe yet, but like the look of it better.
I know they are essentially the same car, but the Matrix's that are around seem to be cheaper with lower mileages.
Now that the Vibe is out of commission, would that prevent you from buying one? Would the recalls affect your decision?
Curious what you guys think between the two cars at this stage in the game. Most of the other questions I saw posted about these two cars were from 2 years back. Thanks!!
A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carquotes.fateback.com
Q: Does mid-grade gas burn faster then regular grade?
So... my engine was making a weird sulphur (fart) smell. So I took it in to the dealer (its a 2010 Toyota Matrix AWD) and they said that it is the gas I was using. I was using 7-11 regular because it was cheap...Well.. I switched to shell mid-grade. I drove to work about 20-30 minutes away and when I got home I had gone threw a whole quarter!! I thought mid-grade was supposed to give you better mileage,
A: Use what the owner's manual calls for, in your case I think it's 87 octane. Using fuel with an octane rating greater of what's required will not get you any better fuel mileage.
Q: what is your opinion on Mazda's maintenance and reputation vs. other brands?
Choices was: 2010 Mazda 3, 2009 Honda Civic/ Fit, Toyota Matrix
I jst bought the new Mazda 3 and i really like the handling, the style and the price! But one thing that crossed my mind which is "WHY IS MAZDA NOT THAT POPULAR?" it is a great car and all! I did a pretty good research before buying it and Mazda 3 specs are better than Toyotas and Hondas offers and Mazda has a really great price! BUT one thing i forgot to check is that maintenance and all that long term stuff! i asked around and they said that to put it simply MAZDA SUCKS... they said that the best cars are toyotas and hondas because of great maintenance and all that! but i also thought about the two other car brands before purchasing, i thought that toyota was overpriced even though the specs are not that great, their price are sometimes higher than that of Honda who offers a lil better specs. Honda on the other hand, as i heard is that it is a great car but others say that Honda has higher possibility of being stolen even some pple i know complain about their insurance coz of this! so can you give me your opinions on this? i already like the specs my Mazda has so i dnt care if you want to comment on this but i want to know how bad is the maintenance, and all that stuff compared to toyota and honda? also consider insurance, reputation, flaws, life span, etc. how much will it cost me?
and lastly, what would u prefer new 2009 Honda civic/ fit, 2009 toyota matrix, 2010 Mazda 3- considering the specs and the long term effects? and why?
also consider resale value coz i kept hearing different opinions but even the edmunds agreed that Mazda has a good resale value
ohh and i saw this one review about mazda 2006 and 2 pple really experinced horribly with Mazda 3 but one of them said that the 2007 model is a lot better accroding to pple she knew, is it possible that year- make made a difference?
A: Better than most
Q: Estimated Highway Mileage?
Hi I'm doing a project for DriversED and its telling me to find the car's estimated highway mileage. Can you please tell me how to find it or you could just tell me it for the Toyota Matrix 2010 since thats the car I choice. Please reply quickly, project due TOMORROW!!!
A: I'm not going to do your project for you, but I will give you a place you can find the information for yourself. www.fueleconomy.gov
Q: Is the 2010 Mazda3 (h) vulnerable to break-ins?
I know the old Mazda3 was really vulnerable to break-ins if someone punched in the door above the handle on the drivers or passenger's side, but what about the new model? Did they correct that? (I'm looking to buy a car and am trying to decide between the Mazda 3 hatchback and some others [maybe the toyota Matrix or Honda Civic.]) Would appreciate your help! Thanks!
A: Yep as he said ^^^. But a club lock, killswitch, pager alarm and shaved handles go a long way.
Q: Is a Scion xD (2010) a good first car?
I'm 17 (and male) and by the end of this month my parents are getting me a car. I've been on borderline several times about which one to get. I've brought up the xD and other cars (Toyota Matrix, Honda Fit, and Scion xB) with my parents as well to consider. I'm swinging toward the xD since I've searching up information about it and finding good results, and also just a few bad results here and there that doesn't really discourage me to not get it.
Mainly I'm looking for a good hatchback that has good mpg, decent space, isn't that cost effective, and won't be that much of a burden with insurance. I'll be mainly using the car to go to school and work.
So would you choose the xD in my position or should I choose it?
Thanks for your time, very much appreciated.
A: Matt how no idea what he's talking about. First off, having any of those cars would not indicate that someone is gay, as was more then suggested. At least not to anyone with half a brain.
Second, Scions are not bare bones. They have alot of standard features that most other cars have as options. So much that there is only one trim level. Nice standard features include a premium radio with MP3 connectivity and a USB port, steering wheel audio controls, and vehicle stability control (standard for 2010). Actually looking yourself or reading professional care reviews would tell you that.
The Fit also has nice standard features and is a good contender for this class.
Ok, the xD. I just bought one for my fiancee. As far as small cars in the class you're looking at goes it's the one that looks the most like a car in my opinion. The Fit is a nice car, but I think it looks like a shrunken toy, proportion wise. The new Matrixes (Matrices? Heh.) I think are slightly goofy looking.
Anyway, beyond the opinions on styling, the real question is how are the cars? Well, I don't know about the Matrix or Fit. She wasn't interested in those so I never put the work into the research. As far as the xD does though, I can share some details.
The engine is nice. It's the Corolla 1.3 liter engine. It seems smooth and quiet. It not my 2 liter turbo engine, but it's fine for everyday driving. The interior is hard plastic like most other cars in this class, but it looks and feels nice. I'm actually impressed by it.
There is a good amount of space ont he inside and the back seats can fold flat. The back seats are also roomy and comfortable for other people and can lean backwards, which I'm not sure if many other small cars can do that as well. The driver's position can be hit or miss though.
My fiancee loves the way the driver seat feels and sits. I find it to be a bit small for me though. You'd have to try for yourself to see if you like it or not. The passenger seat feels fine to me, although anyone above 6 foot may find the front of the car a bit cramped. The view from the driver seat is pretty good, unlike the Dodge Caliber which is awful.
Her insurance is fairly low. With the amount of insurance required for a financed car she's paying about $90ish a month. For my used car, although being a male under 25 makes things rough for me insurance wise, I was paying about $170. Ouch.
Personally, although the xB looks nice, I HATE the fact that the insturment panel (speedo, tach, etc) are in the MIDDLE of the dash instead of in front of the driver. It's a pain in the butt to me.
Anyway, I can only really speak for the xD, but it's a pretty nice little car and i think it's worth a look. Also, if it matters to you, there aren't too many out there so it'll be more unique.
Q: What car should I buy?
I am 18 and I am just now starting to drive. I have been looking at cars but I can't decide which one I like. I have no clue as to what to look for and when I look I just look at the inside and if that looks nice I add it to the list. I have been looking at the Nissan versa, the toyota camry, honda civic hybrid, and the toyota matrix. All of which are 2009-2010. If anyone has any clue as to which car is best or any advice I am completly open. I am so tired of looking...so please help me soon....
A: Pontiac Vibe
